Breast Cancer test could become simplier soon
Women may soon be able to be tested for breast cancer, using only a single strand of hair. The test involves scientists looking at an x-ray of a strand of hair and examining its chemical structure. Women with breast cancer have an alteration to the structure of their hair and scientists believe they can identify the difference. Australian scientists are conducting trials for the test, which is being hailed as a revolutionary development in breast cancer detection. If the trials are successful, the test could be available to Australian women next year. Out of 1300 specific tests already conducted, every woman that presented with breast cancer was positively identified.
