Tag or Not?

Do you have a website or a webblog? Tags or meta tags are actually keywords that are assigned to a piece of information that is describing the item and enabling keyword based classification of information it is applied to. Meta tags are important because most search engine bots look for this tags everytime they crawl on a site's code. Only a few people say tags are not that important and that it's an old technique. I believe tagging is still needed and one of the most important part in a website.
