Disruption of internet businesses in Southeast Asia cause of Earthquake
Magnitude 7.1 earthquakes hit Taiwan and neighboring countries including the Philippines. The 7.1 magnitude earthquake that hit Taiwan earlier today has also affected several IT businesses in the Philippines, particularly those that are dependent on the network. While i was blogging earlier today the internet was cut off for almost an hour. The internet is so slow until now, but I'm still happy the submarine cables were just damaged and not totally destroyed. The Philippines is one of the most Internet-dependent countries in Asia largely due to the offshore connectivity requirements of the massive call center industry, medical transcription firms and online gaming.
